The Delta State Police Command has decided to withdraw a case of alleged defilement and indecent assault from court.
CP Wale Abass, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, has instructed that the case be transferred to the state Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation with great attention to detail.
The Agbor Area Command had previously completed its investigation and formally charged the case in court.
Last week, Mrs. Joy Chukwudi reported that she discovered a bloodstain in her 4-year-old daughter’s private area while bathing her.
Upon questioning, the daughter consistently claimed that her 46-year-old uncle, who is also the owner of the Great Leader International School where she attends, used school scissors to cut her in her private area.
In response to the complaint, the Agbor Area Commander dispatched a team of investigators to the alleged crime scene.
Innocent Ezeukwu, the school owner and the only male teacher at the school, was arrested and taken into custody.
Following a preliminary investigation conducted by the command, a medical report was issued, and an identification parade exercise was initiated. During the identification parade, Ezeukwu was identified by the victim when placed among random men as the person who allegedly defiled her.
The CP stated, “The command is aware of a viral publication circulating on various social media platforms regarding the alleged defilement of a 4-year-old child (name withheld) by Innocent Ezeukwu, a 46-year-old male and the proprietor of the Great Leader International School.
“The medical report confirmed that there was no visual evidence of a hymen in the victim’s private area,” he revealed.
The CP assured the public and the victim’s family that justice will be served. He further appealed to the public to remain calm while the investigation continues.
